Sead Alihodzic

Sead Alihodzic is Senior Programme Officer at International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) where where he is in charge of the Elections and Conflict project. Prior to joining International IDEA in 2008, Sead gained extensive experience in dealing with elections and post-conflict security issues through eleven years of field work for Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). He lead the development of the Electoral Risk Management Tool (ERMTool), designed to build users' capacity to understand electoral risk factors, collect and analyze risk data, design prevention and mitigation strategies, and record the results of actions. The ERMTool was launched as a global public good in October 2013. Sead authored several articles and guides on the topics of elections, violence and early warning including: Electoral Violence Early Warning and Infrastructures for Peace (Journal of Peacebuilding & Development, Vol. 7, Iss. 3, 2012); Prevention and Mitigation of Election-related Violence – A Three Layered Approach (New Routes – A journal of peace research and action, 2012); ‘Elections, Violence and Peace’ (‘Ballots or Bullets: Potentials and Limitations of Elections in Conflict Contexts; swisspeace Annual Conference 2010’).
