Fredrick Otieno

Fred Otieno holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education (Arts) from Kenyatta University, '08. His major was in Kiswahili, History and Political Studies. He then proceeded to Yale University on a Fulbright Fellowship 2010/2011 where in addition to teaching Kiswahili and being a cultural ambassador, Fred took classes in Yale's Jackson Institute for Global Affairs delving on issues around Democratization, Non State Actors and International Policy process. Fred holds a M.A Pan African Studies from Syracuse University (Political Science concentration) in a multidisciplinary program where he took courses in African American Studies as well as the prestigious Maxwell School of Citizenship. He passed his MA thesis titled "Deepening Democracy at the Grassroots level: Citizen Participation in State Devolved Funds (CDF) in Kenya" with a Distinction. Fred recently completed the EC-UNDP Effective Electoral Assistance online course. He has on several occasions worked with various electoral management bodies in Kenya on a broad range of tasks.
