Nadja Braun BinderDr. iur. Nadja Braun Binder, MBA, works as a Research Fellow at the German Institute for Public Administration Speyer. From 2001-2011, she worked for the Swiss Federal Chancellery: First, as a legal adviser in the Section of Political Rights (the Swiss electoral management body on the national level) and project manager of the Swiss e-voting project and then as head of the Legal Section. Her work experience includes the management of direct democratic processes, lawmaking in the field of political rights, public consultation, government and administration organisation, the preparation of comments on official consultations and co-report procedures with regard to Swiss Federal Council affairs and being the data privacy advisor as well as the public policy officer of the Federal Chancellery. Her scientific research focuses on participation in political decision making (especially through direct democratic procedures), electoral law, governance (especially judicial governance), lawmaking and regulation in general and especially on the EU-level. She studied at the universities of Berne and Helsinki and completed her Doctorate on ballot secrecy in 2005.
