MIGUEL ANGEL LARA OTAOLAI am a democracy practitioner and scholar with 10+ years’ experience in the field of elections and election support. I have worked for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Overseas Development Institute in the UK, Mexico’s National Electoral Institute (INE) and the Electoral Integrity Project at the University of Sydney, amongst others. This is supported by experience developing and implementing capacity building activities, a research profile illustrated by 20+ publications and knowledge resources on the topic of elections, strong project management skills as well as experience in election management, campaign finance, election observation and election conflict. I have also participated as an electoral observer in numerous missions in Asia, Australia, the EU and Latin America for organisations such as the OAS and the Australia Timor Leste Friendship Network. I hold an MSc in Comparative Politics from the London School of Economics (LSE) and a PhD in Politics (Thesis: When, where and under what conditions are election results accepted? A comparative study of electoral integrity) from the University of Sussex. |
