Georgia: Pre-Election Statement, Presidential Elections, NDI (2007)

The National Democratic Institute set out a pre-election delegation to monitor the political environment and the preparations of the January 5 presidential elections. From December 10 to December 14, 2007, the delegation met with presidential candidates, campaign representatives, election authorities and non-governmental organizations. The statement stresses the importance of understanding the context and the pre-election period to complete a truthful and comprehensive assessment of the credibility of the elections.
