Presentation of books: History of Elections and Glossary of Election Terms

Central Election Commission of Georgia with United Nations Development Programme presents two books: “History of Elections” and “Glossary of Election Terms”. December 7, the presentation was held at “Sheraton Metekhi Palace”.

Public and International Relations Department of the Central Election Commission of Georgia decided to collect facts describing ninety years history of elections, as collecting such kind of information and publishing as one book has not occurred up to now.

All important changes and events implemented from the very day of the CEC establishment up to present are described in details, how many elections have been held in Georgia and what results have been fixed. How Presidential, Parliamentary and Self-Government Elections have been conducted in Georgia and how they are held nowadays.
“Glossary of Election Terms” has been prepared by the Human Resources Management and Development Department and the Legal Issues Department of the CEC of Georgia.
 
All election terms are explained and interpreted in the glossary.
 
The Publication of these two books has been produced with the financial assistance of UNDP project “Development Capacities for Democratic Institutions for Fair Electoral Processes and Active Civic Participation”.
 
The chairman of the CEC - Levan Tarkhnishvili and the project analyst of United Nations Development Programme - Gigi Bregadze handed the books to the attendees of the presentation. Levan Tarkhnishvili mentioned that all the interesting issues concerning the elections in Georgia are presented in the book and publishing such information as one book has not occurred up to now. He expressed gratitude to Gigi Bregadze for the collaboration.
