The President is elected by the Hungarian Parliament (Orszaggyules) to serve a 5-year term. In the Hungarian Parliament, 176 members are elected in single-member constituencies and 210 members are elected through a party-list proportional representation system. All members serve four-year terms.

- Do you agree that family doctor care, dentistry care and special outpatient care should be exempt from consultation fees with effect from 1 January in the year after the referendum is held on the present issue?

Parliamentary elections - 2006

On 9th and 23rd April the Hungarians voted in the first and second round of the parliamentary elections in which the two main parties faced each other: the Socialist Party (MSZP) led by the Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany, ruling in a coalition with the Alliance of Free Democrats (SZDSZ) since 2002, and the Alliance of Young Democrats-Civic Union (FIDESZ-MPP) led by former Prime Minister Viktor Orban.  A comprehenshive analysis  by the Robert Schuman Foundation is found here. The president of the Republic of Hungary set the date of the local elections for the 1st of October 2006. Elections to the European Parliament - 2004

A binding national referendum was held on the accession of the Republic of Hungary to the European Union in compliance with the Accession Treaty. The question to be put to the referendum was as follows: "Do you agree that the Republic of Hungary will be part of the European Union?"

The referendum held on 12 April 2003 was conclusive. 83.76 % of voters casting a valid ballot gave the answer YES. Detailed information on this referendum is here.

The European Parliament election of 2004 in Hungary was the election of MEP representing Hungary constituency for the 2004-2009 term of the European Parliament. It was part of the wider 2004 European election. The election took place on June 13, 2004. This website includes candidates, lists, relevant laws, reports, voter turnouts, analyses etc.

The 2002 parliamentary elections were held in the Republic of Hungary on 7 April 2002 with the second round on 21 April. As Parliamentary elections are of two rounds, the first round of the 1998 Parliamentary elections was on May 10, 1998, the second two weeks later, on May 24, 1998.
