Description of Electoral System:

The President is elected by popular vote to serve a 7-year term. In the Senate, 84 members are elected by regional governing councils to serve 5-year terms and 16 members are appointed by the president. The Legislative Chamber consists of 150 members, elected to serve 5-year terms; among them 135 are elected by popular vote and 15 are elected from the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan.
