Julie Ballington
Julie Ballington is the Programme Officer resposible for research at the Inter-Parliamentary Union's Gender Programme based in Geneva. She works on issues related to the women's parliamentary and electoral participation, parliaments and gender equality and political parties. From 2001-2005 she was the Programme Officer responsible for the Women in Politics Programme at International IDEA in Stockholm, where she initiated the global project on electoral gender quotas. Prior to joining IDEA in 2001, she worked at the Electoral Institute of Southern Africa (EISA) based in Johannesburg, managing the work on gender and elections in southern Africa.
