The UNDP/UNICEF/Peacebuilding Fund Project “Women – peaceful Voters and Candidates” (Kyrgyzstan) has developed a board game for mobilizing and educating women voters. The game is a very cost effective tool for civic education and voter outreach.

While it was developed for the Kyrgyz/Central Asian context, it was translated from Russian into English and French, hoping that it can be used in or adopted to other contexts. The game consists of the board displayed in the picture, as well as of a cover and instructions.

The delegation found some important shortcoming in the logistics of the elections, such as the voter registration procedures, voter information, and the role of the media. Security was also a major concern in the 2007 elections, and its implications could greatly influcence the results. Finally, IRI makes some final recommendations to the authorities, the Indipendent National Election Commission, and the traditional leaders.

Voter Education Campaign in Tajikistan
|
Before Tajikistan’s presidential elections in 2013, the OSCE Office in Tajikistan, in co-operation with the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda conducted a door-to-door, person-to-person voter education campaign throughout the country. The campaign targeted women and potential first-time voters. From 22 October until 4 November, 60 voter educators reached 115,037 voters explaining procedures for casting a ballot and that proxy voting is prohibited.

This report treats the major activities undertaken by the Guyana Electoral Commission (GECOM) in 2004. The Commission announces that the Commonwealth Secretariat will take part in a needs assessment mission in Guyana. The GECOM is preparing for the 2006 elections. Deolall Ramlall, a civic voter manager was sent to Trinidad and Tobago on behalf of the GECOM to examine how the country's Electoral Management body carries on their voter education programs.

Guyana: Elections Commission Activity Report (2005)

This report treats the major activities undertaken by the Guyana Electoral Commission (GECOM) in 2005. The GECOM has received the needs assessment report from the Commonwealth Secretariat and is currently issuing temporary identity card to process to the voters registration. The Elections commission has also signed an agreement with the Government of Guyana and several donors in order to obtain support for the next elections. The GECOM is preparing a report supporting legal reforms that aims to reinforce electoral transparency. Certain deficiencies in the Election Laws were underlined by a USAID report.
