Some categories of fines and prison sentences are as follows:
- simple forefeiture of undocumented receipts (in Turkey)
- a fine of a fixed sum, plus twice the amount of the unauthorized receipts (in the United States for some offences)
- forfeiture by a party of fifteen percent of state finance for operation purposes (in Israel)
- suspension of state funding for one year for political parties guilty of improper preparation of balance sheets (in Greece)
- a fine or imprisonment or both (for corrupt electoral practices in Britain)
- a prison term of up to five years for accepting campaign contributions from abroad (in Taiwan)
A more detailed example is provided by the list of penalties in Australia:
- failure to furnish return when due: Agent of party: AUS $5,000; Agent of candidate, or others required to furnish a return: AUS $1,000
- continued failure following conviction for failure to furnish return: AUS $100 a day
- furnishing an incomplete return: AUS $1,000
- failure to maintain records of parties and groups: AUS $1,000
- knowingly furnishing false or misleading information to a person making claim required to furnish a return: AUS $1,000
Failure to produce documents, or give evidence, or giving false or misleading evidence: AUS $1,000 and/or six months in prison.90
