Short Time Frame
The implementation period for compiling a periodic list of voters is very brief, from several
weeks to several months. Planning for the registration drive, on the other hand, can take months
or even years. The success of the implementation period will depend, to a considerable extent,
on the success of the planning period. It should also be borne in mind that the implementation
period is characterized by much higher levels of interest in the election activity, so mistakes or
difficulties that arise from poor planning may likely become even more important and,
potentially, more embarrassing. When the registration activity takes place during the election
period, there will be increased interest and attention paid to it by the media, the political parties
and candidates, and the electorate, especially as momentum builds towards election day itself.
