Political parties in the strict sense of the word, as well as alliances between parties and independent candidacies, may participate in an electoral process. However, at the present stage of the development of democracy conceived as a state of parties, the role of the parties is absolutely dominant compared to other organisations (see Party and Candidate Registration).
